What better way to stay cool in the last days of 2008 than to buy two kilos of icecream at Heladería 4d? In honor of their 19th anniversary Heladería 4D (or Quattro D) has been having a 2 for 1 special on their kilos of icecream. Gs. 40,000 for one kilo of icecream is a little steep (although Sugar charges Gs. 10,000 more!) but at Gs. 20,000 a kilo why not? If you share my enthusiasm for 4D then you might be glad I only mentioned this with few days left in the month. After all, two kilos is a lot of icecream. But it´s so good!

Gs. 40,000 es un poco caro para un kilo de helado (¡aunque en Sugar cuesta casi Gs. 10,000 más!) – pero a Gs. 20,000, pues, ¿por qué no? Si compartís mi entusiasmo por 4D quizás estarás agradecido que esperé hasta los últimos días del mes para mencionarlo. ¡Seamos honestos, dos kilos es mucho helado! ¡Pero es tan rico!

Hydraulic Pesebre – Pesebre Hidráulico
For the last 55 years the Sabaté-Gonzalez family has been setting up their pesebre for all their Luqueño neighbors to enjoy. As with all pesebres this one features the Three Kings, the Angel Gabriel, Mary, Joseph and of course and oversized Baby Jesus. What makes it interesting is that they are surrounded by doll representing different types of Paraguayans, all of whom make small movements thanks to a system of hydraulics. The ñandutí maker embroiders, the chipera puts her chipa in the tatakua, and the musicians strum their harp and guitar. Watch the video and see if you can pick them all out!
Quinta Sabaté is located in the Bella Vista neighborhood of Luque in between Benigno González and Yrendague (it might be easier to get directions from Luque´s main plaza). The pesebre will be on display till the 30th from 6pm to 10pm every night.
Desde hace 55 años la familia Sabaté-Gonzalez ha armado su pesebre para que sus vecinos Luqueños lo disfruten. Cómo en todos los pesebres en este figuran los Tres Reyes Magos, el Ángel Gabriel, María, José y un Niño Jesus enorme. Lo que lo hace especial es que estén rodeados de figuras representativas de Paraguay en versión muñeca, todos los cuales se mueven gracias un sistema hidráulica. La tejedora de ñandutí teje, la chipera saca su chipa del tatakuá, y los músicos tocan su arpa y guitarra. ¡Mira el video y vé si logras identificarlos todos!
Quinta Sabaté se encuentra en el barrio Bella Vista de Luque entre Benigno González y Yrendague (quizás sea más fácil pedir direcciones en la plaza principal de Luque). El pesebre seguirá armado hasta el 30 y se puede ver desde las 18hs hasta las 22hs.
