Dear friends and readers,
I will be going on a brief hiatus for the next few weeks. Posts may be shorter and/or infrequent but as always I’ll try to keep you up to date on the best Paraguay has to offer. I´ll take this opportunity to use a popular Guarani phrase:

“Ahata ayu!” (I’m going and then returning).

International Film Festival – Festival Internacional de Cine


This week marks the start of the International Film Festival in Asunción, now in it´s 19th edition. The festival runs from September 9th to the 30th with screenings at the Shopping Villa Morra movie theater and other locations throughout the city. Take advantage of this opportunity to see movies that are hard to get in Paraguay – even from the pirated DVD vendors!

Esta semana marca el comienzo del Festival Internacional de Cine en Asunción, ya en su decimonoveno año. El festival se realizará desde el 9 de septiembre hasta el 30 con funciones en el cine de Shopping Villa Morra y varias otras salas en la ciudad. Aprovechen de esta oportunidad para ver películas que son difíciles de adquirir en Paraguay – ¡ni los vendedores de DVDs piratas los tienen!
