A "dona" is the way that a donut is written according to the Spanish reading/writing rules, so the name of that place is redundant. A "bollo" tastes like a donut but doesn't look like one. They are donut sized, but (sort of) spheric in shape.

Spheric? A basketball loaded to ¾ capacity with air would be a good approximation.

I was invited to "O Sole Mio" after only being in Paraguay for 1 week. We loved it! The izza and Sangria were lovely but we truly loved the ambiance! This is a great website and I am happy to have stumbled upon it! I look forward to more insights into "la vida Paraguana"(did I say that right?!)

The Family and I ate at O Sole Mio last night. FANTASTIC. Great pizza, friendly, personable kitchen staff. Folk art, heavy wooden doors with iron hardware complete the castle like atmosphere. It was raining so we couldn't enjoy the court yard, so we will be going back soon to enjoy the outdoor dinning.

I recommend the four cheese pizza. It has just the right mix of tart and smooth flavors.

As always my thanks to this blogger for her window into Paraguayan culture and events.

There is a new stand in the Mscl Lopez Shopping parking level food court called "Donuts y Donas"... I have no idea what a "dona" is supposed to be but the donuts look like American style ring shaped donuts. Not sure if they are any good. Interestingly, some of the best jelly donuts I've ever had have been in Paraguay. Here they are called "bollos" and are filled with cream, dulce de guayaba or dulce de leche and then sprinkled with sugar. La Alemana pastry shop has them in their store (on Av. Brazilia casi Mscl. Lopez) and at their stand at Agroshopping every week.

One of the only (and the best) pizzerias/Italian restaurants in Cochabamba, Bolivia a couple of years back was also called Sole Mio. I wonder if it's a coincidence?

Excellent, but my students want to try donuts. Does any place in Asuncion make them these days?
